Restaurant ID, Menu, Website Layout :Dusty Miller
In my Design Studio class I was given the project ‘Restaurant ID, Menu, Website Layout’ where I had the task to create my own restaurant branding . My task was to research, design, and execute a new word mark, and create a complete menu that will support tone of the brand for a restaurant of my choice. The project was an individual assignment that lasted six weeks. I wanted to create a piece that showed elegance and a pretty floral look. I decided to go with Dusty Miller for the name because of the plant having a muted colour to it that pairs well with bright colours of other flowers. For the logo I created a branch from the dusty miller plant. My original idea was to make the branch into a circle around the name. I decided not to do this because I found it to be used often in floral logos and that it was too bulky in the logo itself. So I left it as the one branch instead. For the type I found a font that looked cursive, but was easy to read. For the colour scheme I went with a natural coloured green to bring out an organic feel and a dark purple to compliment the green and bring elegance to the piece. Overall, the piece is simple yet elegant. This goes well with the feel of Dusty Miller. This project helped me to strengthen my time management skills. I created weekly deadlines to have different pieces finished to have ample time for feedback from my professor. Overall, I was able to create a elegant design for my restaurant.
