About Me
Melissa Castillo is a student member of the RGD in her second year of studies at Conestoga College for Graphic Design. She discovered her passion for the arts at a young age and decided to pursue a career in the arts post-secondary. Melissa obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of Waterloo. During her time at UW, she acquired a wide range of skill sets in several fields in the Fine Arts such as drawing, sculpting, and printmaking. It was during her time in the Fine Arts department that Melissa first took a Typography in Art course which sparked an interest in Graphic Design.
During her time at Conestoga College Melissa has not only developed new skills such as working in the Adobe creative suite, but she has also honed her existing skills that she obtained in her time at UW, such as working both collaboratively and independently as well as coming up with creative solutions to problems. Melissa has also had the opportunity to work with clients such as Toyota, the City of Cambridge and the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity for Creative Day 4 Social Good (CD4SG); a 24-hour event wherein a group of industry professionals and students come together to create design collateral for non-profit organizations.
Melissa has passion for the arts and coming up with creative solutions as well as an interest in typography and layout, she aspires to work in publishing and editorial design after graduating from Conestoga College.
